Are you a believer in Christ Jesus? Then gather here. This message is for you. I want to show you something interesting about spiritual battles. I want you to see the right way to fight in the battle against your enemy and the wrong way that you should avoid altogether.

NO NEED FOR PARANOIA

I am being prompted to write this article because I have observed that many believers waste their time and effort, trying to fight battles they have no business getting involved in.

When they experience some barrier in their life’s pursuits, many believers get paranoid about the source of their predicaments.

They start to suspect their neighbours, friends and acquaintances and worst still, some even push things to the extreme, by confronting their suspects physically, accusing them of being their spiritual enemies.

This is obvious through the type of prayer these paranoid believers pray, which are all battle-prone! They pray a “back-to-sender” kind of prayer, where they keep calling down fire on enemies which do not exist in reality.

Stop Waiting To Hear of Evil Reports About Your Percieved Enemies

The Battle is the Lord's

I BELIEVE IN WARFARE PRAYERS TOO

Please understand me. My intention is not to undermine the reality of spiritual warfare. I do believe in warfare prayers, as long as they fall in line with the written Word of God.

However, the moment things start to go off of doctrinal tangent, I beg to differ from the general belief that spiritual warfare must be fought blindly. Even though spiritual enemies are real, the Bible clearly teaches us that Jesus has conquered them all! In light of this, our prayer must be informed by the victory Jesus wrought on our behalf.

So we are not just conquerors, but we are more than conquerors. This is why our prayers must reflect the victory Jesus wrought for us. We should pray like people who are more than conquerors.

We should therefore stop praying futile prayers, attacking our neighbours in manners typical of what we see in movies.

What’s more, we should stop wanting to hear of evil reports happening to our ‘perceived’ enemies, or going into our closet to pray meaningless prayers and rejoicing that God has sent fire on people we consider as evil.

My intention is not to undermine the reality of spiritual warfare. I do believe in warfare prayers, as long as they fall in line with the written Word of God.

The Battle is the Lord's

STOP MAKING AN ENEMY OF PEOPLE!

The Battle is the Lord’s. Stop making an enemy out of people. Allow God to fight on your behalf! It is high time you realized that your real and number one enemy is the devil, and he takes advantage of your ignorance by making you waste your time praying amiss.

Come to think of it, can you fight any spiritual battle in your own strength? Are you a match for the host of darkness?

Spiritual battles are not fought with physical stamina. Neither can you win spiritual battles through a feeling of hyper-spirituality because you’ve gone on hunger strike (fasting without praying).

The best way is to let down your guards and allow the Lord to fight for you while you wait for your victory through worship, exalting and praising His majesty. Wait for your victory by appreciating the ‘Mighty Man’ in battle. Wait in celebrating His ability to help you hold your peace.

“Alright Abisoye”, someone may ask, “doesn’t the Bible teach us to fight a good fight of faith?”

Sure the Bible asks us to fight a good fight of faith, but the faith fight is purely scripture-based. It is not the same as fighting human enemies!

Some may even quote Matthew 11:12, which says, “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.”

Stop hating on your neighbours, friends and colleagues simply because they did not smile at you in your dream.

Let your prayer time be a time of communing with the Father about different things. Let it be a time you intercede and stand in the gap for others. Your prayer time should not be a time of raining curses on your enemies!

MEDITATE ON THE FOLLOWING SCRIPTURES

The following scriptures will further give you a clear perspective of how to pray effectively.

1 Timothy  2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 Chronicles 20:15 – And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle [is] not yours, but God’s.

Ephesians 6:12 – For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

1 Samuel 17:47 – And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle [is] the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands.

2 Corinthians 10:4 – (For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;).

Exodus 15:3 – The LORD [is] a man of war: the LORD [is] his name

Make your prayer time a refreshing one, not the one filled with hate and bad energy. Pray right! Live right! Love up!
